Search engine optimization (SEO) is one way to successfully improve a website’s ranking in search engines like Google, and there are many companies that offer this service. Some, like Champion Online Marketing, offer Folsom SEO marketing services so that local businesses can reach out to prospective clients who may not be aware of their existence. Search engine algorithms, however, can be tricky in that doing too much or too little may negatively affect the business or have no effect at all.
A Practical Ecommerce article explains how a page can be optimized properly. One aspect of this is generating compelling content for a specific page using particular phrases. The author, Jill Kocher, suggests placing the quality content on the page that needs the boost in SEO performance:
If your goal is to boost SEO performance of an existing product category or detail page, the SEO work needs to be done on that exact page. No matter how great it is, posting fresh new content somewhere else on the site is unlikely to help you improve performance on your product category page. If the content is truly helpful and well optimized, it may even compete and push your product page farther down in the rankings.
If potential customers are visiting the well optimized page with content instead of the products or services page, this can indeed be a problem. With the value of content so high in search results today, this is something that you cannot avoid. The way to work with this reality is to have clear paths to your products and services pages on and in your content pages. A link within the blog article to appropriate product page, a graphic in the side bar or other visible area that clearly states that it is a link to the products or services associated with the subject matter are the best ways to work with this and maximize sales. Once the reader’s interest is piqued and they have decided to find out more or make a purchase, they can just click on the link provided in the content, or other clear calls to action on the page.
These internal links and external links are other ways of improving the website’s ranking; this does not mean, however, that businesses can just create as many links as they can throughout the Web because search engines also analyze the websites providing these links. Quality links are those that are found on websites that are highly regarded by search engines. Some search engines, like Google, even go as far as delisting websites that use what are called “link farms.” As I’ve stated before, unfortunately, what you don’t know can hurt you with SEO and internet marketing. If the firm you hire is not knowledgeable of or doesn’t care to follow best practices and they engage in these techniques it is your website that will suffer the consequences.
To make sure that search engines list their website among their top results, local businesses have to make sure they utilize Folsom SEO properly and effectively. Having quality content placed on the website or those that link back to the website can surely help.
